About Dave

Life along the Katy Trail

Three years ago we moved to our new home blocks away from the Katy Trail. The parks and trails of St. Charles are some of the best we've ever seen.

Background

Dave grew up in Cambridge, Massachusetts, a city just outside of Boston. Fortunately or unfortunately (depending on who you ask) he never picked up the accent. He attended Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts where he got a Bachelor's degree majoring in Physics with minors in Mathematics and Philosophy.

He kept studying during his career obtaining a Masters in Business Administration from the University of South Carolina along with a few professional certificates related to Quality, Management, and Continuous Improvement.

Dave took a job in biotechnology after graduation. The intent was to be a placeholder, but it ended up becoming a career. It brought him to the Saint Louis area for work with Saint Charles as his home.  He fell in love with the trail systems, the parks, and colonial downtown St Charles.

Somewhere along the way he also met Liz, a born and raised Missourian. They got married 12 years ago in Kearney, Missouri.

Current Work

Dave is currently the Site Quality Head for one of five non-profit blood testing laboratories which together test approximately 65% of the nation's donated blood supply. If you've ever received a blood transfusion, there is a good chance this non-profit ensured the blood was safe and accurately identified. The Site Quality Head is responsible for ensuring all testing is done per regulation and current best practices while also acting as a direct and indirect leader to laboratory and quality staff.

The skills required for this job are directly transferable to the needs of the St Charles County Executive. It involves leading large groups of people, complying with state/federal/international regulation, and protecting the health and safety of people.

Family

Liz and Dave have been married for 12 years. Their wedding was on the other side of the state in Kearney, Missouri during a tornado warning (so the luck doesn't get better than that, right?).

They have two cats: Hootie and Gremlin. They weren't named based on appearances but after getting to know them.

Hootie (left) is an idyllic sweetheart who hoots when he purrs. He is also a mama's boy who follows Liz everywhere she goes.

Gremlin (right), well he earned his name and continues to earn it every day. He chose Dave as his person and Dave wouldn't have it any other way.

Extra Curriculars

You'll likely see Dave biking along the Katy or at trail running events in St Charles. He signs up for as many as he can. There is no shortage of great outdoor events in our county.

He also played competitive soccer (goalie/mid field) and court volleyball (setter/libero).
